About WhatBubble.com
Our staff and contributing editors make up a panel of actual finance professionals and successful investors. These are not journalists, paid pumpers, or sales people trying to sell you an annuity that will barely keep up with inflation.

Jesse S. Silver
J.S. began his professional career as a stock broker in the Paine Webber (now UBS Paine Webber) office in Beverly Hills, California. Notably, this is the same office that housed Michael Milken and his infamous Drexel Burnham outfit memorialized in the great work, “The Predator’s Ball.”
After becoming more than disenchanted with the world of stock jobbing, he moved north to San Francisco and joined the corporate and financial services group for Lasalle Partners (later merged into Jones Lang Lasalle.) There, he was working as a real estate consultant to fortune 100 companies.
But the lure of the dot.com revolution was too much to ignore. He joined the corporate finance group at a company called AllAdvantage.com and worked on their private capital raises as well as working with their underwriters, preparing to go public. When the wheels came off, he earned his MBA. For his summer internship he worked for a large, emerging markets equity fund (Loomis Sayles) and during the school year he worked as an analyst for a REIT equity fund (Lend Lease Rosen).
But when the time came to start a career he chose to enter the real estate world. J.S. joined a small, contrarian group in San Diego. The illiquidity of the real estate world was too much to pass up and the ability to work in a group that made their money by buying assets that other people didn’t want was a perfect fit.
J.S. earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago and his Masters of Business Administration at the University of California at Berkeley. He has passed his Series 7, 63 and 65 exams; he has been licensed as a real estate broker and a real estate salesperson. He lives with his wife in San Diego, California and still follows the vicious ups and downs of the Pride of San Francisco, the 49ers.
